Individual-unit problems

Generally, RHE doesn't have an obligation to perform interior or in-unit services. It is the unit owner's responsibility, at his/her own expense, to maintain, repair, etc., the following:


  • Any and all equipment

  • Bathtub/shower

  • Dishwasher

  • Disposal

  • Electrical outlets and lines

  • Fixtures

  • Flooring and carpets

  • Freezer

  • Gas leaks: If you smell gas – a rotten egg odor – or if you have an emergency involving natural gas, leave the area immediately, and call Washington Gas at (703) 750-1400 or 1 (800) 752-7520.

  • Glass portion of windows and window screens

  • Heating and air conditioning equipment that services one unit

  • Interior walls

  • Kitchen cabinets and countertops

  • Light fixtures

  • Range

  • Refrigerators

  • Sinks

  • Smoke detectors

  • Toilet
